Computers
I'm sorry that I have not bee updating my blog recently, but I for the the last half of March I hwas having problems with my computer that was causing it to crash periodically (ie. every 5-10 minutes) or I simply lost video function... which lasted until just after the Purgatory game, when I discovered the problem - the fan on my video card failed, and basically smelted the video card into useless slag.
I was able to purchase a replacement video card for the AGP slot on my motherboard, only to discover that I didn't have enough memory in my box to actually run the card (which made my beautiful 19" LCD-WS monitor dispaly everything in wonderous 4-bit resolution with a whoping 16-color spectrum...
Today, I resolved to fix it, and found that the cost of the archaic memory I would need to use the card would cost me almost as much an upgrade which would still leave me well behind the curve in terms of computing power and with no future upgrade room, so I opted instead to replace the box entirely for slightly less than double the cost which willl keep an upgrade path open for the next few years.
This does mean I can now start slogging through the ten-days worth of Purgatory-related email sitting in my inbox.... YAY!
