“Ow!”
So… I am in pain. I have been in pain all weekend.
- Did I go to see the doctor? No.
- Why? Pride.
- So what’s wrong? I think I’ve broken or cracked something in my foot?
- What? I think it’s either 4th Metatarsal or 4th Proximal Phalange in my right foot?
- How? I have no idea.
- Are you going to the doctor soon? Yes… this morning.
- What going to happen? Not much… they can’t cast it, and they likely just give me anti-inflammatories, and tell me to stay of my feet, alternate hot and cold compresses, elevate, etc… so I get to look forward to about six months of walking funny.
- Walking funny… is that any different from normal? Shut up!

Political Pipe Dream?
I know that it's a pipe dream... but I have to worry that if Mr. Nader runs for President in 2004 if he will be giving the Bush Administration another 4 years to destroy what is left of the US economy and undermine the very few environmental protections left standing. Wouldn't Mr. Nader be an excellent Secretary of the Interior (or Director of the EPA), in a Democratic administration... or even as Vice President? With Kerry leaning a little to the right and Nader much further to the left, wouldn't that be an interesting and appealing ticket that would stand a far better chance of removing Bush from his home on Pennsylvania Ave?

UN

You're the United Nations!

Most people think you're ineffective, but you are trying to completely save the world from itself, so there's always going to be a long way to go.  You're always the one trying to get friends to talk to each other, enemies to talk to each other, anyone who can to just talk instead of beating each other about the head and torso.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and you get very schizophrenic as a result.  But your heart is in the right place, and sometimes also in New York.

Rocket Flight
So Eric has got several of us gaming geeks playing this very interesting-looking game. It's kind of a Civilization in Space, game with actual physics. It looks quite interesting, and I get to be the financially useless, United Nations International Astrophysics Committee (UNIAC), which appeals to the inner diplomat in me… even if my faction is broke.

Sigh
Sometimes I don?t know why I even bother to try. The ?waitress? and I have been setting (and breaking) movie dates several times over the past few months. The last few times plans have been cancelled because of a last minute schedule changes at work. This time our plans were cancelled by neither one of us, however, I did arrive to the restaurant to find Julie with two of her friends. They were interesting people? and I enjoyed the several hours of conversation with the two friends, but she barely said a word and stayed pretty much as far away from me as possible. I can take a hint, I know the various 'lets-be-friends' looks, actions and phrases. I knew better (from earlier entries ? Arthur?s comments not withstanding). The saga is over.

On the flip side, I know of another young lady whose on-again off-again interest is truly both facinating and infuriating. I?m done playing in the ?hard to get? game. I think am going to take my ball? and go home.

All the World's a Stage
Well... character creation is underway. As of yesterday we finalized the influence units distributed many of the points amongst the players and approved us going over the player cap (now we are at 51) in order to add somone to the Nosferatu who were an in-need clan. The non-static wesite is almost finished and we hope to have it up and operating by the end of the weekend.

Nightwatch and the Ministry of Peace
Did you know that under the cabinet restructuring under our current Prime Minister, the authority to sign a security certificate is now held by one Minister. In the past any such certificate needed to be signed jointly by both the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration and by the Solicitor General. However after a recent order-in-council, one Minister has the sole power to arrest somone and hold a secret trial in Federal Court. Oh! Did I mention that this minister has direct control over:
  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
  • Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS)
  • Correctional Service of Canada (CSC)
  • National Parole Board (NPB)
  • Canada Firearms Centre
  • Canada Border Services Agency

  • Thats alot of power for one minister.

Granted it's not the US Patriot Act... at least you'll get a trial in Canada.
