There are only two things that are infinite, the universe and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe.

Poseidon
*Picture Removed*
You are most like the Greek God Poseidon, of the sea. You have mood swings a lot, and you can change from being calm, relaxing to wild and violent without warning. Exciting to be around, and usually an adventure - you remain strong and in command almost always. People are drawn to but if they can't keep up with you, then they fall behind - and you don't stick around to pick up the pieces...

Letter to the Editor
Semantics. That is what the gay and lesbian marriage issue is all about. If two individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation have the right to the tax advantages and other benefits of marriage, why all the fuss? It is because a heterosexual couple can obtain a marriage licence to go before a Justice of the Peace (an agent of the Crown) to swear (or affirm if you are not religious) the oaths loyalty to your spouse… and a homosexual couple cannot. That is discrimination; it truly is as simple as that.

Democracy is the rule of the majority, with respect to the rights of the minority. I am glad the motion before the House of Commons was defeated narrowly, but I have 132 reasons to worry about our government. The rights of the minority cannot be ignored simply because they are unpopular, otherwise they are no protection at all.

With a little luck the above letter will be published in the next few days, bringing my total published letters to three

Democracy
Last night the House of Commons, the seat of government for the Dominion of Canada voted on a non-binding motion to "...reaffirm that marriage is and should remain the union of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others..." I am glad to say the motion was defeated 137-132.

There has been a lot said by both side in the debate which a simply inflamtory and based upon no reasonable or rational thought. The principle that most annoyed me was the point that by allowing gays and lesbians to marry would then open the door to marrigage between 'mother and son', 'father and daughter', etc.

Strictly speaking... if the text of the motion describing marriage as 'the union of one man and one woman' were the only guideline for a legal marriage, then incestous couples would be legal! I wish the conservatives would take a step-back, stop fearmongering and make rational points rather than making stupid comments such as opening the door to 'polygamy and incest'.

The Oppostion wanted a referendum on this issue... to which the Prime Minister (whom I rarely agree with replied):
"If it's always the majority vote by the referendum, who will defend the minorities?" he asked journalists. "In government, we are there to protect every minority."

Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by the majority.

Condemnation
So... uhm... I've kinda been lax in posting here eh? Without further ado here is the update:

Work - My assistant is going back to Malaysia for five weeks starting the 21st, so I'll be without my individual to delegate to. In the interim my full-time auditor is going to step in as Supervisor and my part-time auditor is going to work full-time. YAY! Overtime! Labor Cost!
TableTop -Two of my games are nearing completion. Which is both a good and bad thing... I think I need to take a breather from some of my games as currently I have next to no free time. On a side note Don located a second hand box of Advanced Rise and Decline of the Third Reich, so we are currently working on a household game. Gorra as the Axis and myself as the Western Allies / Russia. It's Summer 1941 and France just fell last season, Russia just took the Ploesti oilfields but are still not at war with the Axis. Britain on the other hand is on the ropes... in severe economic peril. We shall see what happens. Russia is still negotiating for the Balkans to stay out of the war, much to Britain's dismay.
LiveGaming -Lets see: Purgatory (Organizer), Halifax Nights (Player), Tempest (Player), Shadowed Throne (Player). I think I'm pretty much booked solid.
Relationships - Crashing and Burning as normal.
