Amazing Shrinking Paycheque
Ah Yes! It got worse.
Our Corporate Offices just finished negotiating the new costs for our employee benefits. Now, I’ll admit… we have a good benefits package: 100% prescription, 100% basic dental, 80% minor dental, 50% major dental, eye care, etc. However, we had no increase in the effectiveness of the package but the employee contributions increased by an average of 46.4%
Taken in combination with the awe-inspiring 1.5% pay raises for my staff, and they are all taking home less money this year than last! It is ridiculous!!!
I cannot fathom how they think I can keep my staff working for me when they keep jerking them around. Now, I‘m upset that they did the same thing to me, but it pains me to hear their ‘financial reality’ bullshit, when training new staff is going to cost far more than an actual raise, and a non-ludicrous increase in benefits contributions will cost.
So far, all of my staff who know of the increase, are on the verge of leaving, and at the very least looking hard for new jobs. Count me among them… It is asinine corporate decisions like these which will undermine the ‘bottom line’ far more than they consider.
