The Spirit of Giving
Last Christmas I gave each of my parents a ticket for a Hot Air Baloon Flight. They had gone several years before that and had said that they enjoyed themselves, so I thought about it and deceided that I was going to blow my budget and buy them each a ticket so they could enjoy it together again. When they opened the envelope on Christmas Day last year, I noticed my mother's lukewarm reception to the gift. After a year of procrastination she finally decided that she didn't want to go, so my father asked me if I wanted to go in my mothers place. I mulled it over, a little hurt that I thought I had thought of a great Christmas gift, only to realize that my mother didn't appreciate it. I have no idea what to do for Christmas this year, but I think I'll keep it simple.
